Off the main road in the city Hinnkin City, a herd of wild deer lived. They enjoyed
their time there, for the major of the city enjoyed nature and never hurt it. He knew that the deer lived there,
and often sent painters to paint them in the late afternoon sun, when bright beams fell across their backs. Why,
there wasn't a single building in town that didn't show the Hinnkin Deer somewhere. fresh air, was usually plentiful,
for they had many trees, and they lived simply, there roads were dirt paths, there cars were bikes and horses.
In one house, out near the deepest part of the woods, there lived a girl named Georgia. By this time, the Mayor
was a nice, quiet elder man. This was his 30th year as mayor. Georgia loved her town, and often raced down the
street, passed the mayors house to the deer's clearing. she would watch for many hours, and they learned to trust
her. it was a bright sunny day when she ran over to the clearing. morning dew glistened in the bright sunlight,
and the deer were just waking up. George cautiously approached. She held fresh berries in her hand, she always
placed them on the ground for the deer. She closed her eyes and took a deep sniff. All the sudden she felt a warm
tickle on her palm and opened her eyes. two deer stood there, eating the berries out of her hands! after
they had finished eating their share, they let other ones eat. after the deer ate, Georgia decided that she would
see if she could pet them. she took a deep breath and reached out. the deer didn't bolt when she touched him, instead,
it rubbed against her. she felt glowing happiness. when she returned home, she was suprised to find her family
looking sullenly down at the floor. She asked, "Whats wrong?" Her mother replied, " The mayors on
a business trip, and Demitrie Johnson is taking over the position." Georgie gasped. Demitrie Johnson loved
to have power, and hated people who were simple, he called them peasants, he hated small places, he called them
hobo shacks, he hated places with no cars, he called them uneducated, he hated places that weren't modern, he hated
not putting people in jails, he said everyone that was simple was a smuggler, he hated farmers, he called them
dirty, he hated dirt roads, he called them filthy, but most of all, he hated animals. Georgie knew he would tear
down the woods, and impound the animals even deer. |
